About this app

Play It By Year 2 is a straightforward music player for the songs
already on your phone.

No account, no login, no internet connection required. It reads the
music you already have and plays it — nothing is uploaded, streamed,
or synced anywhere.

FIND YOUR MUSIC
- Sort your library by title, artist, album, or year
- Filter by year, genre, or file type (MP3, FLAC, WAV, and more)
- Live search across title, artist, and album
- Jump straight to a letter or position in a long library

PLAY IT YOUR WAY
- Shuffle, repeat (one song or the whole list), and "stop after..."
rules (after N songs, N minutes, or when the album/artist/year
changes) for falling asleep to music without it playing all night
- Create playlists, reorder them by drag, and import/export them
- Playback history, if you want it — off by default, and easy to clear

WORKS THE WAY ANDROID MUSIC APPS SHOULD
- Full lock screen, notification, and Bluetooth/hardware media controls
- Android Auto support: browse and play your library, playlists, and
genres from the car
- A built-in file browser if you ever need to clean up audio files on
your device

WHAT THIS APP DOESN'T DO
- No ads
- No account or sign-in
- No analytics or tracking of any kind
- No internet permission beyond what Android Auto itself requires

There's an optional, no-strings link on the About screen if you'd like to
support development — it doesn't unlock anything, because nothing in the
app is locked.

This is a small, actively-used personal project. If something's missing or
broken, feedback is genuinely welcome.
