About this game

🧩 Shikaku Twist: The Rectangle Logic Puzzle with Extra Clues

6Ɨ6 Ā· 10Ɨ10 Ā· 12Ɨ12 Ā· 20Ɨ20 Ā· 30Ɨ30 and 5 clue types

Shikaku Twist is a grid puzzle based on Shikaku, the classic Japanese logic puzzle also known as Rectangles or Divide by Box. If you love Shikaku and want to put your spatial reasoning to the test, this is the rectangle puzzle for you.
Your goal: Divide the grid into rectangles and squares so that each patch contains exactly one numbered clue matching its area. The twist: Each clue also tells you what kind of rectangle to draw: Square, wide, tall, free, or any.

🧩 How to Play Shikaku Twist:

1. Every clue has a number. It tells you how many cells your rectangle must cover.
2. Drag across the grid to draw a patch. To undo a rectangle, tap it.
3. Tile the entire grid, patch by patch, so that every cell belongs to exactly one rectangle. No empty cells, no overlapping.

The Five Clue Types:
Each clue tells you which rectangle it allows:
ā—¾ Square: Equal width and height.
ā—¾ Wide: Width exceeds height.
ā—¾ Tall: Height exceeds width.
ā—¾ Free: Any proportion, but the cell count is fixed.
ā—¾ Any: No restrictions.

These five clues are what make each grid puzzle different.

I initially chose this version of the game over other apps because of the human-like responses the creator gives. Personable and honest! I got in, and recognized the layout immediately. Turns out I play another game from this creator (Rumba) aha. I only just got through the beginner pack but it's really fun already! I do wish the 1x1 squares can be tapped instead of needing to drag and make a tiny square motion in the space, but that's a small gripe (might be why some players say touch issues?)

the game itself is ok I guess but it has a RIDICULOUS amount of ads (3 ads every 3 games) it would be fine if they were long games, but most last under a minute (a lot even under 30 seconds) which is INSANE. you can technically pay to get rid of them but it's a subscription service, not a one time payment. GREEDY!

Thanks for flagging this! I went looking after your review and found the "high engagement" setting (the friendly name for those extra long ads) buried in the ad network dashboard. It's switched off now. A 30 second puzzle followed by a 2 minute ad was never the trade I wanted to offer šŸ™ˆ

Just watched a full length ad (~30s) to even be allowed to start the daily puzzle, which took exactly 14 seconds and was followed up with another full length ad. So i spend 4x as much time watching ads as i did playing. So, yeah... done with this. And yeah, you get to play three games for each ad you watch, but the last two daylies were 29s and 18s, so it's still barely half game and half ad.

Thanks for flagging this, Daniel! I went looking after your review and found the "high engagement" setting (the friendly name for those extra long ads) buried in the ad network dashboard. It's off now. A 14 second daily wrapped in two full length ads was never the trade I wanted to offer šŸ™ˆ
